Now that you know how to grip the bat correctly, let’s go over what’s next for your hands before and during your swing.
The first step when starting your swing is something that a lot of young players don’t do, which is getting your hands back. As you are loading your lower half you should also be bringing your hands back. Make sure you are not wrapping your bat around your head when bringing them back because this will slow your hands down.
Once our hands are back, lets start our swing. When swinging, you want to keep a straight line to the pitcher with the knob of our bat. The reason we do this is because we want to get our bat to the ball quicker and increase bat speed.
