Stephanie Poetzsch is the owner and head instructor of Strike Out, Inc. Stephanie has been giving lessons for over 18 years all over Long Island and has students of all ages and abilities. Stephanie has been playing softball since the age of 6 and has been pitching since the age of 12. One of her most memorable early accomplishments was being the starting pitcher for the 1992 Islip Little League team that won NY State Championships, Eastern Regional Championship, and represented the East in the Little League World Series where they placed 3rd. Stephanie then played Varsity Softball for 5 years earning Rookie of the Year award in 8th grade, as well as All Tournament, multiple All Conference, and All County awards as well as team MVP awards.
After playing her freshman year at the University of Rhode Island Poetzsch then went on to pitch at Stony Brook University where she rewrote the Stony Brook softball record books in her three years with the Seawolves. She became the program’s all-time winning pitcher with 36 victories and the all-time strikeouts leader with 632. She started a school-record 75 games in her career and recorded an all-time high of 18 shutouts in her three years. Not only that, Poetzsch set a single-game record for strikeouts (15) and pitched the first no-hitter and the first perfect game in the program’s history. She holds several single-season records as well.
Poetzsch received All-America East honors in 2002 and team MVP honors as a junior and senior. She was also named Stony Brook’s Female Athlete of the Year after her junior season in 2001.
